The Pursuit team recently had the pleasure of going fishing in the brand new Pursuit S 328 Sport, accompanied by representatives from SiriusXM's Marine Division, and a team from BoatTrader.com. The SiriusXM Marine mapping system is available for the Garmin MFDs supplied on Pursuit Boats. It is designed to take you to the specific fish you are hunting, while helping you get there and back safely.

SiriusXM's Marine Mapping service is a premium, optional add-on subscription for the well-known SiriusXM satellite entertainment service.
It provides up-to-the-minute graphical weather and fishing info specifically aimed at recreational boaters, ensuring that you can find your targeted fish with ease, while avoiding incoming weather fronts. More on all of this, later.
If you own a newer Pursuit boat, this facility fully integrates into the Garmin MFDs installed on your boat, meaning that you can easily and instantly enjoy real-time information about the weather around you, the sea conditions and likely fish locations. It is all right there in front of you at the helm, exactly where you need it. No fussing with mobile phones or third-party hardware.
We got an early start to our trip, boarding before sunrise and taking the new S 328 straight out of the Ft Pierce inlet. Before heading to our bait fishing spot, we spent a few minutes plotting our trip using SiriusXM's Marine mapping. Thanks to the map's brightly colored fish mapping showing us the likely locations of billfish, kingfish and others, we were quickly able to determine where we might find the main species we were targeting. We further refined our destination thanks to SiriusXM's sea surface temperature and wave height and period information, all included as standard in the Marine mapping package.
Meanwhile, we used SiriusXM's advanced weather forecasting and mapping screens to plot the safest course to the fish - also part of the Marine mapping subscription. The system makes it easy to determine the size, intensity and direction of travel of weather systems around your boat. This is all the information you need to make sure you not only reach your prey safely but also get home safely.
The new Pursuit S 328 Sport center console is a highly capable fishing and cruising platform packed with all of the features, amenities and luxury that you expect from the Pursuit range.
For this long-distance offshore trip, our boat's optional Seakeeper 2 stabilizer really made the difference in terms of onboard comfort, keeping the boat steady and stable, allowing our team to focus on fishing rather than keeping our balance.
Another great feature is the S 328's 24 gallon onboard livewell, which ensured that our baitfish stayed alive and happy, ready for our arrival at an offshore wreck where we hoped we would find our prey.
While fishing, we were pleasantly surprised by the arrival of a spectacular Manta Ray with several Cobia trailing it. Our cameraman quickly jumped into the water with an underwater camera, scoring some fantastic footage of our gracious visitor.
In the meantime, Mark - representing SiriusXM - had managed to hook one of the Cobias. He easily brought his catch on board through the S 328's custom molded port side boarding door, a standard feature on every new S 328. The side boarding door adds to the ease of access provided by the S 328's custom molded transom walkthrough, which includes a hinged transom door.
Mark also remarked on the convenience and practicality offered by our boat's Kingfish Rod Holders. These rod holders are included in the Hardtop Corner-Mounted Rod Holders package, an option which adds six plus two Kingfish Rod Holders to the hardtop. "It keeps the baits separated and nicely spread, and frees up deck space to make it easy to walk around," he noted.
This is the first time Pursuit has offered this Kingfish package and it is one that we are excited for all of our customers to experience.
When you are done fishing for the day, the Pursuit S 328 Sport is packed with entertainment and leisure features that are perfect for ending the day on a relaxing note.
Starting in the cockpit, the seating here folds away to open up the deck for fishing but afterwards, both the transom seat and the aft-facing seat ahead of the entertainment center, instantly fold out to create comfortable seating for several adults. These seats are standard on every boat and include two dedicated, removable fiberglass cockpit tables that simply slot into place between the seats, to create a beautiful dinette area.
Ahead of this area, the entertainment center includes an optional electric grill, alongside a sink with a faucet and a cutting board. Added to this, the new S 328 now also includes a transom cooler, ensuring you have plenty of space for all of your food and drinks. If you need more cooling, an optional 12V cockpit refrigerator/freezer is available in the cockpit, replacing the starboard leaning post tackle center.
Up in the bow, we have included storage slots for the same two fiberglass tables, giving you the flexibility to dine in either the cockpit or the bow. Both tables have dedicated storage when not in use, keeping them safely out of the way.
Thanks to SiriusXM's satellite-based connectivity, you can enjoy the huge variety of onboard entertainment offered by Sirius' services, at distances of up to 150nm offshore. This is far beyond the normal reach of mobile networks, meaning that even when you are far from home, you still have access to all of your favorite music, talk shows and radio stations.
The onboard JL Audio Stereo system featuring six speakers and a 10" subwoofer are guaranteed to deliver your music like you've never heard it before. But if that is not enough for your needs, buyers can opt for our Premium stereo upgrade. This package upgrades all of the speaker grilles to Sport grilles and adds full spectrum backlighting controlled by the MFDs at the helm. It also adds two more coaxial speakers to the standard six, and it adds another 10" subwoofer. All of this is powered by an additional custom-tuned DSP amplifier, and is fed by a SiriusXM Receiver and antennae. To get you started, a 3 month Sirius subscription is bundled with this package.
For an additional monthly fee, you can add the system's powerful fish mapping features, putting all kinds of vital data at your fingertips including fish finder, ocean surface temperatures, wave heights and periods, and crucially, real-time weather radar and forecasts.
