In May 2021, a crew consisting of Pursuit Boats’ marketing team, famed photographer Marc Montocchio, prolific writer Kevin Koenig and a slew of experienced captains and mates made the crossing from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida to Bimini in the Bahamas.
The group made the voyage on Pursuit’s flagship center console sport boat, the S 428 Sport. It was shadowed by Pursuit’s photo boat, a 25’ center console affectionately named Frankenstein. The boats pushed through the 4- and 5-foot waves with assuredness and kept the crew mostly dry (depending on who you ask). This was no small task considering the conditions which featured a 17-knot wind.
The objective of the trip was two-fold: We wanted to capture beautiful lifestyle photography and video of the S 428 to both share with our followers and secondly, we hoped to secure a feature story in Power & Motoryacht magazine.
The trip was an adventure in and of itself. After clearing customs at Bimini’s famed Big Game Club, the crew headed south to Gun Cay and its Honeymoon Harbor famous for the nurse sharks and stingrays that make it their home. The S 428 has an oversized beach platform that lowers with the press of a button. This gave easy access into the crystal clear waters to swim with these docile creatures.
Aside from swimming with sharks, the group met up with a pod of dolphins while trolling later on. It was a majestic experience.
The Pursuit’s now salty and tanned crew captured what they needed and headed back to Ft. Lauderdale. The crossing back was a welcome relief in comparison with the crossing over. The wind had died down and the Gulf Stream was flat and glassy.
The trip was a huge success and Power & Motoryacht allowed the S 428 to grace the cover of their October 2021 issue.
Inside the pages of the magazine is the unmissable feature story written by Kevin Koenig. We invite you to read it; You’ll feel like you were there with us, experiencing the vibrant waters and adventures we had in Bimini.
