Crossing the Atlantic with Real Estate Pros and their Pursuit DC 266

Pursuit DC 266

When Milton and Debbie Koster aren't selling luxury real estate and matching buyers with their dream homes, the couple and their family is out cruising the waters around Florida from the comfort of their Pursuit DC 266 Dual Console.

This is far from any ordinary boat-owning couple, though. Milton and Debbie have joined the Pursuit Rendezvous three times, taking their boat across to the Abacos on a trip that many owners of similarly-sized boats would not even consider attempting.

We spoke with this dynamic, fun-loving couple about boating, the Rendezvous event, and their love for their DC 266.

A Real Estate Power Couple

Milton and Debbie Koster

Milton and Debbie Koster live in Port St. Lucie, Florida, where they have spent most of their lives. After 33 years of marriage, they are proud parents and grandparents to a large family of four adult children and five grandchildren, with the grandkids ranging in age from four to fourteen.

Originally from the Poconos in Pennsylvania, Milton - an accomplished drummer in his spare time - moved to Port St. Lucie in 1985 and opened his real estate business. Debbie, meanwhile, comes from New York but has lived in Port St Lucie for 52 years. After a long career in banking, she made the switch to real estate, joining Milton in his business.

The couple live in their own dream home right on the water, with their Pursuit DC 266 sitting ready to go on a boat lift at the bottom of their property. This arrangement gives them the flexibility to go out on the boat whenever they want to enjoy the stunning waterways surrounding their home.

Our Life on the Water

Milton and Debbie's boat has a name.

But not just any name.

Instead of casually slapping a boating-related pun on the hull and calling it a day, the couple christened their boat, 'Our Life'. It is a name with a story that goes far below its surface meaning, as Milton revealed. "I come from a blended family. Living in Stuart, Florida, my mom and stepdad had always been into boating. Their boat was named 'New Life', representing their new life together as a couple. I was pretty much brought up on and around that boat. When Debbie and I later met, we would visit my parents in the Keys and spend time on 'New Life'. When it came time to name this boat, Debbie and I asked ourselves, "What's special about us?" Keeping in mind Poseidon's requirement that a boat name be seven letters, we felt that our boat name should pay homage to my parents and their new life, but be focused on us. And since this is our life together - a positive journey that is uniquely ours - we decided to name our boat, 'Our Life'."

Praise for the Chapman School

Debbie & Grandchild on the Dual Console took the Chapman School of Seamanship course

After buying their boat, Milton and Debbie took advantage of the opportunity offered to buyers of new Pursuit Boats, to complete an exclusive Pursuit Boats boating skills course at the Chapman School of Seamanship. The two credited the course with giving them the skills and confidence to take on the crossing to the Abacos with the annual Pursuit Rendezvous. "The course was great!" said Debbie. "We had two captains teaching us, and they spent as much time training me as they did with Milt. They were really patient! They taught us everything up to and including things like docking the boat and tying the lines. It was fantastic and well worth it. In fact if we had the opportunity, we'd do it again!"

In Pursuit of the Annual Rendezvous

For the past three years, Milton and Debbie have joined the annual Pursuit Boats Rendezvous. When asked about their experience of being the smallest boat making the crossing with the Pursuit flotilla, Milton burst out laughing. "Everyone says to us, 'Why are you doing this event in a 26 foot boat'?" Our answer is to reiterate our reasons for buying the boat in the first place. We have boated around our part of Florida for a long time. We know our local waters really well, and we wanted to start doing longer trips. We specifically bought our DC 266 to enable us to do that."

The Rendezvous was the couple's first long-distance cruise, but the Pursuit team made sure Milton and Debbie had nothing to worry about. "Mark Taiclet from Pursuit told us that he wants us right behind him throughout the trip. He and Neal Hager watched out for us - they watched out for everybody. They were always aware of what everybody was doing. It made you feel really safe and secure. Anybody looking to go on one of these trips can do it, you just have to be smart and use your boating skills," said Milton.

Milton also thoroughly praised his DC 266's engineering for the sense of safety and confidence it gave him and his family during each of the trips. "The boat handles it like a champ; no matter what happens. Even when the sea gets sporty, we have never felt like our lives were in any sort of danger. With the radar and other facilities that allow us to see ahead, we always know where we are and always feel confident. Most of all, we know that our DC 266 can do what we set out for it to do without us being in any danger. We feel protected. I'd never put my family in danger, especially since we have three generations on board during these trips."

The Pursuit Difference: People and Relationships

Debbie and Milton knew that they wanted a dual-console style boat right from the beginning. Secondly, they wanted any purchase to be from a nearby dealer, mainly for the sake of servicing convenience.

After shortlisting two boats - one being the Pursuit and the other from another manufacturer - the Kosters went to see Stuart Smith at Ocean Blue Yacht Sales, a short five mile drive from home, and their mind was made up. "He took us underneath his wing and even encouraged us to do a factory tour at Pursuit before we made any decisions," Milton explained. "The relationship that we have since built with both Stu and the team at the dealership, as well as with the people at Pursuit, is what would really keep us coming back to Pursuit as much as anything."

Debbie agreed. "At the Pursuit Rendezvous, we have gotten to know almost everybody there at Pursuit - from sales and engineering to marketing and even the president. In fact, we came back with the president on our last trip! How many people get to do that and build those kinds of relationships? When you buy a Pursuit, you are both buying an experience and buying into a family of like minded people. They are professional and treat you as a friend - the way you want to be treated. And they always answer my questions - phone calls, emails, whatever. Whenever I have a question about anything, Pursuit is on it. Other companies simply don't do service like Pursuit does!"

"It makes a difference," Milton added. "In my business, I treat my customers like that, too. It's that experience of knowing that someone cares and is there to guide you where necessary."

Paying it forward, Milton and Debbie will be in our booth at the Miami International Boat Show this year. If you plan to attend, stop by our the Convention Center to say hi! They are happy to share their experiences with you.”

Making Memories on the Treasure Coast

Milton, Debbie and their family sitting on a balcony

When they're not joining the Pursuit crew for the annual Rendezvous crossing, Milton and Debbie enjoy sneaking out after work for a sunset cruise on 'Our Life'. "Our most fun times is doing those cruises - just the two of us after work. We're blessed because we can hit the button on the lift, drop the boat in the water and go out for an hour or two, and then we're back home. Those are the times we live for and it's why we go boating. We truly believe we live in paradise here on the Treasure Coast," Milton noted.

In 2026, the Kosters are looking forward to many more amazing cruises in and around Port St. Lucie. In addition to joining the 2026 Pursuit Rendezvous for the fourth time, they plan to cruise to the Florida Keys and spend some more time exploring the waterways around their home. As busy parents, grandparents and successful entrepreneurs, Milton and Debbie don't have the luxury of planning much more than that, any further ahead!
